Last November Costa Palmas joined together with local organizations such us DIF (National System for Integral Family Development) and Casa de la Cultura de La Ribera to spread cheer to the local community of La Ribera in the form of a traditional Christmas posada. Originally a tradition brought to Latin America by the Spanish and adopted by Mexico, posadas have become a symbol of community, togetherness and goodwill in celebration of the Christmas holiday.
More than 400 community members from La Ribera attended the public posada in the town’s main square and were delighted with a choreographed Christmas show that included acrobatics, ballet, a raffle of gifts given by Costa Palmas and of course, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, thanks to the La Ribera Delegate, Juan Carlos Montaño, who joined in on the fun. Members of the community enjoyed traditional posada fare, including tamales, tostadas, buñuelos and hot chocolate.
“This gathering was a wonderful opportunity for us to come together and express our gratitude and support for the community of La Ribera,” said Rodrigo Bretón, Director of Costa Palmas. “We appreciate our neighbors and look forward to a happy and healthy 2022.”
At the event, a video retrospective of the various initiatives that Costa Palmas has done within the community for the past decade was shown and the Costa Palmas Foundation, which will be instituted in 2022, was introduced. (Insert video)
As children decorated cupcakes, “quequitos,” donated by La Casa del la Cultura of La Ribera, local teachers and townspeople presented a “pastorela veloz,” a recreation of the nativity. Each attendee also went home with a self-care kit, gifted by the Four Seasons Resort.
It was a festive and lovely experience for all!
